Vietnam to Launch 100 International-Standard STEM Labs by Year-End

Vietnam is making a bold leap into the future of education with its plan to launch 100 international-standard STEM labs by the end of 2025. This ambitious initiative, led by Petrovietnam, aims to transform the way students learn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across the country, setting a new benchmark for hands-on, innovative education in Southeast Asia.

A National Rollout with a Global Vision

The program officially launched on September 21, 2025, with a target to deliver three STEM classrooms in each of 34 provinces and cities—two for high schools and one for secondary schools—within just 100 days. These labs are not just ordinary science rooms; they are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including smart interactive boards, AI and IoT systems, robotics kits, 3D printers, CNC cutting machines, and experimental sets focused on energy and the environment. Designed according to international standards such as FabLab, NGSS, ISTE, CSTA, and Vietnam’s own 2018 General Education Program, these labs promise a world-class learning experience for students and teachers alike.

Empowering Teachers and Students

The rollout is not just about infrastructure. Immediately after the labs are handed over, equipment suppliers will conduct on-site training for teachers and technicians, ensuring that they can operate and maintain the advanced tools. The program also includes a comprehensive teacher training module, covering topics like integrating AI, IoT, robotics, and digital transformation into the curriculum. Teachers will learn how to build interdisciplinary STEM lessons, organize innovative projects, and foster creativity and entrepreneurship among students.

A Catalyst for Innovation and Collaboration

These STEM labs are set to become hubs of practical experience, connecting students with modern technology and preparing them for careers in the 21st century. The initiative also aims to foster domestic and international collaboration, with plans to link Vietnam’s STEM departments with counterparts in Singapore and connect with research institutes and universities. From 2026 onwards, Petrovietnam will continue to support localities with additional STEM labs, ensuring that this transformation is sustainable and scalable.

Why This Matters

Vietnam’s STEM lab expansion is more than just a government project—it’s a statement of intent to invest in the nation’s future through knowledge and innovation. By giving students and teachers access to international-standard resources, Vietnam is not only upgrading its educational infrastructure but also inspiring a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers. This bold move sets an example for other countries looking to strengthen their STEM education systems and prepare their youth for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
