STEM Workshops Inspire Next Generation
A new STEM initiative in Ballarat is set to provide local youth with immersive, hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, and maths. Funded by a $100,000 federal grant, The Brainary is partnering with Ballarat Libraries, the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council, and the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative to deliver workshops for students aged 12–18. Attendees will explore real-world STEM applications while learning about potential career paths in emerging industries.
The program, launched at Ballarat Library with support from local leaders such as Member for Ballarat Catherine King and City Deputy Mayor Ben Taylor, aims to increase accessibility for students from all backgrounds. By bringing cutting-edge technology into community and library spaces, organisers hope to ensure that young people, regardless of location or socioeconomic background, have equal access to STEM learning opportunities.
With support from regional partners, including BRMC and BADAC, The Brainary aims to foster inclusion and long-term engagement in STEM fields. Through these workshops, participants will acquire the skills and confidence to explore future educational and career pathways. The initiative reflects a commitment to inspiring the next generation of STEM problem solvers and innovators in the Ballarat region.
