Delhi and UP Schools Closed News: All CBSE, ICSE, Private, Govt Schools to Reopen on This Date; Check State-Wise Schedule
After an extended summer vacation in several parts of North India due to high temperatures, schools across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are preparing to resume classes. Students, parents, and teachers have been awaiting official reopening dates as state governments finalized academic calendars and reviewed weather conditions.

While reopening schedules differ from state to state, most CBSE, ICSE, government, and private schools are now resuming normal academic activities. In some districts, however, authorities have issued revised timings or local advisories because of continuing heat conditions.
Delhi Schools to Reopen on July 1
According to the academic calendar followed by the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, government, aided, and recognized private schools remained closed for summer vacation from May 11 to June 30, 2026. Schools are scheduled to reopen on July 1, 2026, unless any fresh advisory is issued.
This will mainly apply to those pupils who are students at CBSE/ICSE recognised and affiliated to the Delhi Government. Pupils will need to verify with their school through notice boards regarding their reporting time, when their orientation session will take place and any updated school times.
Uttar Pradesh Schools Have Already Resumed
Schools in Uttar Pradesh finished their summer vacation earlier than those in Delhi in many parts of the state. After the state’s holiday, some areas began school again, while others were given a longer vacation because of the heat.
Due to ongoing heat advisories, the Noida and Greater Noida authorities have enacted new school timings for grades 1 to 8. Those changed timings will remain in place until further notice. Parents are expected to consult with their school to check for directives from the district government regarding changes in start time for students.
State-Wise School Reopening Schedule
| State | Reopening Status |
| Delhi | Schools reopen on July 1, 2026. |
| Uttar Pradesh | Most schools have already reopened; some districts have revised school timings due to heat. |
| Haryana | Schools reopen from July 1, 2026 in most districts. |
| Punjab | Schools reopen on July 1, 2026 after summer vacation. |
| Bihar | Schools have reopened, although some districts temporarily modified schedules because of the heatwave. |
| Madhya Pradesh | Most schools resumed classes during June after the scheduled vacation. |
Schools Continue to Monitor Weather Conditions
Many other local governments monitor weather conditions closely, even as the end of summer vacation approaches in most states. Schools in areas with extreme temperatures may be shortening the length of school day, using morning shift schedules (instead of afternoon shifts), or adding other safety protocols to keep children from becoming overheated.
Schools have been advised to ensure children have access to fresh water, proper air circulation, and consistent health maintenance, especially for younger children.
Educational specialists argue that holistic learning equips students for success not just in higher education but also in swiftly evolving work settings where adaptability and interpersonal skills are greatly appreciated.
Parents should continue to check their school’s website or other official communications for updated information about when schools will reopen/what classrooms will look like in regard to weather advisories and district level procedures in regards to school closures/opening dates/times etc.
Students Prepare for the New Academic Term
As schools start again, students will be back to doing all the things they usually do in class, having hands-on learning (like field trips or doing labs), playing sports/clubs or other types of activities out of class, and taking tests. Schools may also be doing orientations, handing out new schedules, and providing information about what to expect in the year ahead.
Experts suggest that the best way to prepare for school this fall is for students to ease back into their normal routine of studying, stay well-hydrated over the summer, and know any changes to their school’s rules before they attend class in September.
Educational specialists emphasize the need to integrate solid academic foundations with hands-on learning experiences, digital competencies, and problem-solving skills to equip students for future careers.
Looking Ahead
The reopening of schools across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and several other states marks the beginning of the next phase of the academic year after the summer break. While Delhi schools are scheduled to reopen on July 1, 2026, most schools in Uttar Pradesh have already resumed classes, with certain districts continuing precautionary measures due to persistent heat.
Students and parents should continue following official announcements from their respective state education departments and individual schools to stay updated on reporting dates, revised timings, and any weather-related advisories before the new academic session begins.
