CBSE and National Crime Bureau Collaborate on Nationwide Drug Abuse Awareness in Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a landmark step to create safer and healthier learning environments by partnering with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India. The CBSE-NCB collaboration will focus on a nationwide drug abuse awareness campaign across all CBSE-affiliated schools, aiming to prevent substance abuse among students through education, workshops, and counselling.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony is scheduled for September 3, 2025, at the CBSE Headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi. Following the MoU, CBSE will conduct an Awareness Program specially designed for school principals and counsellors.

This program will equip educators with practical strategies to identify early signs of substance misuse, implement preventive measures, and foster drug-free school communities.

Schools play a critical role in shaping student behaviour and promoting positive lifestyle choices, making them the frontline defence against drug abuse. Through this partnership, CBSE and NCB aim to empower teachers, counsellors, and students with knowledge, resources, and supportive interventions that discourage substance misuse and promote well-being.

The joint initiative will include awareness sessions, counselling workshops, and digital outreach programs designed to create ongoing support systems for vulnerable students. Parental involvement and community engagement are also important facets of this holistic approach to prevention.

Substance abuse poses significant risks to student health and academic success. By institutionalising this collaboration, CBSE and NCB are sending a strong message of commitment to preventive education and creating drug-free schools that safeguard the future of India’s youth.

This campaign aligns with global best practices in school health promotion and underscores CBSE’s commitment to nurturing not only academically successful students but also healthy and resilient individuals.
