Canada Leaders in STEM Education Come Together for Science Literacy Week 2025
From October 6 to 12, 2025, Canada will celebrate its annual Science Literacy Week, a nationwide campaign designed to foster curiosity and deepen public engagement with STEM education. The theme this year, “From Sea to Space,” invites Canadians of all ages to explore the wonders of science from the ocean depths to the expanse of outer space.
The Canadian Association of Science Centres (CASC) leads this dynamic initiative, partnering with educators, libraries, government agencies, museums, and science centres across the country. Various hands-on workshops, immersive exhibits, astronomy shows, coding events, and interactive tours will be held, making science accessible and exciting for everyone.
Marianne Mader, CEO of CASC, highlights that Science Literacy Week goes beyond celebration—it’s a platform to cultivate critical thinking and scientific curiosity across the nation. The week’s programming will span coast to coast and include a special focus on francophone communities, with events such as inflatable planetarium shows, coding workshops simulating deep-sea exploration, and vibrant science demonstrations that reflect Canada’s unique seasons.
The campaign aims to inspire learners, educators, families, and communities alike, reinforcing the importance of STEM education for Canada’s innovative and resilient future. By sharing engaging resources and stories, Science Literacy Week nurtures a lifelong passion for discovery and scientific literacy among Canadians of all backgrounds, making it a key driver of STEM enthusiasm nationwide.
