Aston Martin Aramco and Maaden Launch a Global F1-Inspired STEM Education Programme to Inspire Future Innovators
In a major move to bridge the gap between real-world industry experience and classroom learning, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team and Maaden (the Saudi Arabian Mining Company) have unveiled a global STEM education initiative inspired by Formula One. The programme, part of their long-term “Unearth Your Greatness” partnership, aims to motivate and equip young people around the world with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
At the heart of this initiative is the Global STEM Racing Learning Channel, a bespoke online platform that blends exciting motorsport themes with hands-on STEM learning. Designed for flexible use in both classrooms and independent study settings, the platform offers interactive lessons, certifications, and modular content that bring engineering, physics, design, and problem-solving to life. By 2028, the programme is expected to engage up to 100,000 students and teachers globally, helping expand access to quality STEM education in regions where such opportunities are limited.
Maaden has also been announced as an Official Supporting Partner of STEM Racing, a Formula One-supported initiative. STEM Racing challenges young learners to design, build, and race CO₂-powered cars, blending creativity with technical thinking and offering an engaging way to apply STEM concepts in a practical context. This global competition has been a catalyst for inspiring students to explore engineering and innovation beyond traditional classroom boundaries, and the new partnership will significantly scale its reach and impact.
Leaders from both organisations emphasise the broader purpose of this collaboration. Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal of the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team, noted that while talent exists everywhere, opportunities often do not, and partnerships like this aim to open doors for young people worldwide. By connecting students with real-world industry insights, the programme hopes to build pathways into future careers in engineering, technology, and science.
From Maaden’s perspective, the initiative supports wider goals of economic diversification and workforce development. Bob Wilt, Maaden’s CEO, underscored that inspiring and nurturing young talent is essential for driving innovation and supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s long-term ambitions. Through participation in the programme, students gain exposure not only to STEM subjects but also to the practical applications of these disciplines in industries ranging from motorsport to mining and advanced manufacturing.
A key strength of this global initiative is its emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility. The programme targets learners of diverse backgrounds and abilities, with flexible learning modules that can be implemented in varied educational settings. This approach aligns with a broader international push to make STEM education more equitable and globally relevant.
By combining the excitement of Formula One with structured STEM learning, the Aston Martin Aramco and Maaden global STEM education programme represents a creative and forward-looking model for engaging the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
