HDFC Bank Parivartan Expands STEM Education Initiatives, Reaching Over 47,000 Students Across India
On National Science Day 2026, HDFC Bank Parivartan, the flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme of HDFC Bank, announced a significant expansion of its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education initiatives aimed at transforming science learning for students across India. This strategic expansion focuses on strengthening access to experiential and inclusive STEM education, especially in underserved and remote communities, reflecting a broad commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and practical learning among young learners.
Aligned with India’s vision of building a “Viksit Bharat 2047” and promoting scientific temper, the expanded STEM programme under Parivartan integrates innovative tools and infrastructure that bridge the gap between traditional classroom instruction and hands-on experimentation. Rather than just textbook-based learning, the initiative emphasises practical science, digital literacy, and inclusive access so that students from diverse backgrounds can engage meaningfully with modern scientific concepts.
A core feature of the initiative is its collaboration with leading implementation partners to deploy mobile science infrastructure, accessible learning tools for students with disabilities, and specialised laboratories tailored for astronomy and advanced science learning. Altogether, these interventions are designed to directly benefit over 47,000 students across states such as Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and the Northeast.
One major component of the programme is the strengthening of science infrastructure in Maharashtra in partnership with the Agastya International Foundation. This includes the launch of eight science centres and three integrated mobile science labs, enabling students from schools with limited laboratory facilities to experience hands-on science experiments and design-based learning. The mobile innovation labs are equipped with 3D printers, microcontrollers, and robotics kits, coupled with a 16-module curriculum that teaches coding and algorithmic thinking to thousands of students.
In addition, Parivartan is establishing accessible STEM labs for speech and hearing-impaired students through a partnership with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. This unique initiative adapts STEM content into sign language, trains teachers in assistive technologies, and supports over 2,900 students, making STEM learning more inclusive and equitable.
Another key highlight is the promotion of astronomy and space science education in Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the Ambuja Foundation. Advanced Astronomy and Space Labs, including models aligned with ISRO themes, are being introduced to spark interest in space exploration and emerging scientific fields.
Parivartan’s hub-and-spoke model in Pune, implemented with WOSCA and Life-Lab, further integrates gamified digital learning platforms and community engagement programmes to deepen scientific engagement beyond school hours.
Through these efforts, HDFC Bank Parivartan continues to reinforce quality STEM education, promote inclusive learning, and align with global goals like the United Nations’ SDG 4: Quality Education, preparing India’s youth for future academic pursuits and emerging career pathways in science and technology.
