Delhi Launches AI-Enabled Smart Classrooms Under CM Shri School Initiative
New Delhi has taken a major step toward transforming public education with the launch of AI-enabled smart classrooms under the CM Shri School initiative. The first CM Shri School at Sarojini Nagar was inaugurated, alongside the foundation stone laying for 75 additional CM Shri School projects across the capital. This initiative marks a significant shift from traditional chalk-and-board teaching to technology-driven, interactive learning environments.
As part of the first phase, 500 smart classrooms have been rolled out across 11 government schools. In the coming months, more than 7,000 smart interactive boards will be installed in classrooms citywide, with full implementation expected by March. These classrooms are equipped with advanced digital panels, AI-powered assessment tools, and blended learning platforms designed to personalise instruction according to each student’s learning level.
The new setup aims to create an engaging and adaptive learning experience. Students can participate in AI-based quizzes tailored to their individual progress, while others explore robotics and hands-on projects in skill labs. This integration of technology supports experiential learning, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving skills.
Teachers have also welcomed the change. According to educators at the Sarojini Nagar campus, interactive panels simplify lesson delivery, making it easier to illustrate complex concepts, highlight key points, and adjust teaching materials in real time. Unlike traditional blackboards, digital tools allow for smoother transitions between topics and provide access to rich multimedia resources.
The CM Shri School initiative reflects Delhi’s broader vision of modernising public education infrastructure and preparing students for a technology-driven future. By integrating artificial intelligence, smart boards, and skill-based labs into classrooms, the program seeks to bridge learning gaps, enhance engagement, and equip students with 21st-century competencies. If successfully implemented across all planned schools, the initiative could serve as a model for education reform nationwide.
