Parul University Launches India–New Zealand Centre of Excellence to Boost Global Research Collaboration

Vadodara: City-based Parul University (PU) has marked a significant milestone in international higher education by inaugurating the India–New Zealand Centre of Excellence (CoE), emerging as the first Indian university to establish a collaborative research platform with faculty members from seven leading universities in New Zealand. The initiative aims to strengthen long-term academic cooperation, global research partnerships, and innovation-driven development between the two nations.

The Centre of Excellence was formally inaugurated during PU’s International Week 2026, a flagship global engagement event hosted by the university. The launch ceremony was attended by senior representatives from Education New Zealand (ENZ), along with delegates and faculty members from prominent New Zealand government-funded universities. University officials described the event as a landmark step toward creating a sustainable and future-focused academic alliance.

According to PU authorities, the India–New Zealand CoE goes beyond traditional student exchange programs and focuses on long-term academic collaboration. The centre will serve as a joint platform for collaborative research projects, shared academic infrastructure, faculty development programmes, and cross-cultural knowledge exchange. Special emphasis will be placed on innovation, interdisciplinary research, and projects aligned with global challenges, including sustainability, digital transformation, healthcare technologies, and advanced engineering.

Speaking at the inauguration, university representatives highlighted that the CoE is designed to encourage the co-creation of knowledge by bringing together researchers, scientists, and academicians from India and New Zealand. Faculty members from partner universities will engage in joint research initiatives, curriculum co-development, visiting professorships, and research mentorship programs aimed at nurturing globally competent scholars and innovators.

Officials from Education New Zealand welcomed the collaboration, noting that such institutional partnerships play a vital role in strengthening bilateral educational ties. They emphasised that the centre reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence, research integrity, and innovation-led growth, while also promoting cultural understanding between the two countries.

The India–New Zealand Centre of Excellence is expected to create new opportunities for PU students and researchers to participate in international research ecosystems, access global expertise, and contribute to impactful projects with real-world applications. University leaders expressed confidence that the initiative will position Parul University as a hub for global academic collaboration and reinforce India’s growing role in international research and innovation networks.

With this initiative, Parul University continues to expand its global footprint, aligning its academic vision with international standards and reinforcing its commitment to research-led education in the STEM and interdisciplinary domains.
