CSR News: HDFC Bank Parivartan Launches STEM Labs in Maharashtra for Hearing-Impaired Children

Under its flagship CSR initiative ‘Parivartan,’ HDFC Bank has launched STEM Science Labs in schools across Maharashtra. These labs aim to empower children with hearing impairments through inclusive, hands-on learning.

Science That Speaks Without Sound

These specialized labs offer visual-based learning, tactile experiments, and digital aids designed for students with hearing difficulties. The labs use colorful models, animated simulations, and interactive software that communicates concepts through images and sign language interfaces. For children who rely on visual learning, this initiative opens a new gateway to scientific understanding.

Collaboration With Local Educators

The program is being run in collaboration with NGOs and school authorities who work closely with the hearing-impaired community. Teachers are being trained to use assistive devices and adapted STEM kits that promote curiosity and experimentation. HDFC Bank has also facilitated workshops to help students engage with robotics and basic coding in a format that suits their learning needs.

A Model for Inclusive Education

The initiative currently supports 20+ schools, with plans to scale across other states. By targeting an underserved segment, Parivartan reinforces the message that science is for everyone. It also highlights how STEM education, when made accessible, can boost confidence and open future career possibilities for differently-abled students.
